High Mobility Field Effect Transistors

Recent results include the achievement of FETs with mobility of 25 cm2/Vs fabricated with oriented and aligned semiconducting polymers in the channel. Based upon the basic materials science involved, we are optimistic that we can increase the mobility to significantly higher values.

Plastic Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells

This is a large program involving all aspects of the bulk heterojunction solar cell concept, including studies of the ultrafast charge transfer, studies of the sweep-out of the photogenerated mobile carriers, studies of the recombination mechanisms, and studies of the morphology of the BHJ material. A new approach to plastic solar cells will be initiated in late 2013.
